The ACC Advocacy Committee works with ACC staff as representatives in Washington DC on aviation issues and regulations relevant to the industry. The committee monitors and communicates developments in Washington relating to funding for airports and related policy/regulations, and develops and advocates for ACC’s strategic funding and policy provisions in legislation. The committee supports ACC members by producing regular updates on the most current legislation and trains members and companies on how to be effective advocates for the airport development industry.

Washington Updates
September 18, 2023 – ACC Advocacy Committee held an ACC Washington Update to discuss FY 2023, potential government shutdown, and legislation affecting MWBE participation in airport capital projects. They were joined by guest speaker Annie Russo, Chief Political and Congressional Strategy Officer with ACI-NA.
June 8, 2023 – ACC Advocacy Committee held an ACC Washington Update guest speaker Dave Cushing, Manager of FAA’s Airports Financial Assistance Division. Cushing provided an update on the administration of AIP and infrastructure funding.
February 17, 2023 – Committee Chair Kevin Spitz discusses:
- Updates on FY2024 Budget and appropriations process.
- FAA reauthorization update, including an overview of ACC’s key priorities.
- How to Advocate – Hear from Matt Reiffer with the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) on ways ACC members can participate in the FAA reauthorization effort.
- Future advocacy initiatives.
