ACC News | Huntley Lawrence Named Recipient of 2023 ACC Aviation Award of Excellence

Alexandria, VA – The Airport Consultants Council (ACC) is pleased to announce the selection of Huntley Lawrence as the recipient of the 2023 ACC Aviation Award of Excellence. The award will be presented on Thursday, November 2, 2023, during the ACC 45 Annual Conference in Vancouver, B.C. 

The Aviation Award of Excellence award is presented annually to recognize an individual’s extraordinary contributions to the aviation industry that are visionary and innovative, have advanced the industry, and have served the good of the general public.

Lawrence was selected for the award based on his distinguished leadership as Chief Operating Officer of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he had direct oversight of Aviation, Rail, Seaports, and the World Trade Center. He previously served as Director of the Port Authority Aviation Department where he led the world’s busiest aviation system with over 140 million annual air passengers, revenues of $3 billion, and over 1,500 employees. He oversaw the Port Authority’s most significant transformation in its 100-plus-year history.

“ACC is pleased to recognize Huntley Lawrence for his visionary leadership and innovation in delivering critically important improvements at Port Authority airports through a tumultuous time for the aviation industry,” said ACC President T.J. Schulz. “The efforts of his team and industry partners have substantially improved the level of passenger service for millions of travelers and helped improve the overall performance of the U.S. and international aviation system.”

His significant accomplishments include:

  • Navigation of the Port Authority and its three major Airports (LGA, EWR and JFK) through COVID-19;
  • Innovative execution of three major multi-billion public-private partnerships (P3s), the most in the US;
  • Successful procurement and execution of several major multi-billion dollar terminal development programs, including LGA Terminal B ($5.1B); LGA Terminal C & D ($8B); EWR Terminal A ($2.7B)
  • Successful selection and financial close on two P3s at JFK.

Lawrence is currently Managing Partner of HAL Strategy Group, an infrastructure and strategic policy consulting firm, and an Executive Coach and member of the International Coaching Federation.
