ACC News | Vibrant ACC 45th Annual Conference Held in Vancouver!

Another year, another phenomenal ACC Annual Conference! Attendees began to touch down in Vancouver this Wednesday to take part in the Membership Meeting, where they heard from committee leaders and ACC staff on all the activities that have taken place over the past year. This included a number of webinars from the Education & Accreditation and Young Professionals Committees; collaborative meetings with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) organized by the Engineering and Planning & Environmental Committees; advocacy efforts from the Advocacy Committee; and so much more.

Day two kicked off with a welcome from Eric Pateman, Vice President, Passenger Experience and Chief Experience Officer, Vancouver Airport, followed by a panel with Rich Swayze, Associate Deputy Administrator for the FAA’s Office of Airports, where he spoke with Ania Motas (Jacobs) and Damon Smith (Mead & Hunt). Attendees heard from Geordie Aitken, Owner of Aitken Leadership, where he presented the first Keynote on why it’s imperative that leaders create an environment of connection, a sense of meaning, and a vision of hope. The afternoon was filled with group sessions and firm forums, where representatives met with peers to brainstorm solutions for industry problems.

The third and final day began with the second Keynote, presented by returning speaker Kristin Scroggin, owner of genWHY Communications, where she discussed the importance of building diverse workforces and retaining talent in today’s job market. The conversation continued in the final panel of the conference where Scroggin held an interactive discussion on the future of the workplace.

Thank you to all the sponsors, speakers, moderators, and attendees for joining us in Vancouver. Events like these only happen due to your support. A special thank you to the ACC Annual Planning Committee that have worked tirelessly to create such a vibrant, educational event.
