The ACC Board of Directors convened this week in Alexandria, VA, for the summer board meeting. The Board discussed ways to continue to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into the organization. A facilitated session was held with Mariama Boney of Achieve More, LLC, ACC’s DEI advisor, on the different types of bias and how to purposefully make ACC more inclusive to diverse members. Steps are currently underway to benchmark ACC’s progress in DEI, ascertain perspectives from ACC leadership and members, and develop a DEI statement and mission. “The board’s engagement and work with Mariama is critically important in our path to become a more inclusive and diverse organization,” said ACC President T.J. Schulz.
