ACC has endorsed two bills as the aviation industry and Congress heads into the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization effort. The first supports the Promoting Women in Aviation Act, which was introduced by Senator Gary Peters (D-MI). The bill codifies the Women in Aviation Advisory Board which the Department of Transportation (DOT) created under the 2018 FAA reauthorization. The board is designed to develop recommendations for the FAA, the industry, and Congress to help recruit, retain, and encourage women to remain in or pursue careers in aviation. ACC also endorsed a bill introduced by Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) to ensure U.S. airports are ready to respond to climate change and extreme weather. The Airport Infrastructure Resilience Act directs the Secretary of Transportation to create a pilot program to provide grants to airports for the planning, design, and construction of projects that improve their climate resilience.
